I bought an Airflo Ridge Pure Delta fly line from Tacklebargains a couple of weeks ago,
I know in the past Airflo had a reputation for lines with memory problems but I had heard this was a thing of the past.
Today I took it onto the green at the back of my house and gave it a test run
Stripping line off the reel I was disappointed to see the line lying in coils but these soon disappeared as I started casting, the line shoots very well, I tested it against my Snowbee XS and an old Cortland 444 and it out performed both in distance, I am no expert but I found I was getting another 9ft compared with the Snowbee and around 12ft more than the old Cortland, it could well be that the Airflo suits the rod better as it’s a 5/6 wt where the Cortland is a 6wt and the Snowbee is a 5.
I don’t think the line will be as tough as the others, the ridges run the length of the line and look like they could easily be damaged.
The Airflo comes with looped ends that will make tying on a leader a lot easier, one other feature I noticed is the line weight and profile is printed on the end of the line, that will make it easier to identify, however it’s printed on the reel end, where if it was on the leader end it would be more user friendly.
I can’t wait to give it a try somewhere with water instead of grass.
Over all I am really pleased with the Airflo, its good value for money.
