Arcade Upgrades

Planned upgrades to arcade system :

* Challenge system
o Permissions set per group on whether the challenge system can be used or not
o Can initiate a challenge with or without points (has been tested with Battle and Simple Points, but should work with any points system where the variable is set in the members table of the DB)
o Notifications for when a challenge has been sent, completed, winner/loser of a challenge
o Ability for the member to either accept or decline a challenge (correct notification is sent depending on the users choice)
* User Settings
o Default Game sorting, allows the member to set the sorting of games on the main arcade page with the following options
+ Sort By
# Name
# Times Played
# Description
# Rating
# Date Added
+ Order By
# Ascending
# Descending
o Games to show per page - options of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 can be set. Other values can be set by the board admin in the ACP
o Scores to show per page
o Rankings to show per page
o Display How Many New Games
o Display How Many Random Games
o Display How Many Popular Games
o Display How Many Newest Champions
o Display How Many Latest Scores
o Use Challenge System - options (No = do not participate in challenges at all - Yes with NO PMs = participate in challenges but do not send me any notifications and Yes with PMs = participate in the challenge system and send me notifications
* ACP Member settings (ban, unban and arcade moderator)
* Notification system - As discussed above, notifications can be sent for new high score, new HOF score and various challenge messages (Thanks to Shady for his help on this)

* Lots of re-work on the ACP side to clean up the look of the Arcade (ACP side)

Downtime

Apologies for last nights downtime folks but we suffered a major server problem which forced us to go offline until it was resolved, I have been monitoring the server all day and it has been behaving itself so far.

Fingers crossed that this is now resolved

The whole point of this poll is to get you, our members views on how you would feel if we dropped the torrent and nzb sections and concentrated on legit softwares and games etc..
Personally I feel that perhaps the download sections are now a waste of time since they do not seem to see much activity from members and do nothing in the way of attracting new traffic to the site.

We would still have downloads but purely LEGAL content which would mean we could advertise better and open up more to search engines without worrying what they see.

Please let us know your thoughts and if you have an idea to better the site feel free to throw it in, we're very open minded

On A Break

Well people as you all know I am ALWAYS here but don't faint I am going away on the 26th for a 5 day break in Scarborough as long as any illness doesn't stand in the way and before anyone asks NO i'm not legging it with the donations kitty that would get me to about Glasgow if I was lucky

The good people of my old Army Regiment (2 Para) paid for me to go on this break all inclusive after hearing of my past 5 year of health problems, good to know that even after all these years i'm still part of that great family
Any problems in this time i'm away please contact any of the staff who will do there utmost to resolve it for you, don't wreck the damn place while i'm gone

Description of Counter Strike 1.6
Counter-Strike is a tactical first-person shooter video game which originated from a Half-Life modification by Minh “Gooseman” Le and Jess “Cliffe” Cliffe. Counter-Strike pits a team of counter-terrorists against a team of terrorists in a series of rounds. Each round is won by either completing the mission objective or eliminating the opposing force.

Basically it's a game where we can all shoot the chit out of each other for fun while on Teamspeak. The goal is to either kill everyone, free the hostages or defuse the bomb usually. There are loads of weapons to "buy" and you can change weapon after each round, the more you kill the more money you have. These weapons dont stay with you when you leave the game and come back, you have to buy each round as far as I know.

So, AJ has managed to get together 10 accounts with Steam to play the game and also our own server. There are only 10 so it will have to be first come first served or take turns etc.

Let us know, here, if you would like to play and if you want a Teamspeak account to go with it. We can have 2 seperate channels for terrorists - counter terrorists etc.

Site Upgrading This Week !

I would like to pre-warn everyone that I will be starting on upgrading our main site to the new IPB 3.2 software this week.

As EVERY feature has to be replaced you will find many disabled for a spell during this period to allow me to update the files required, As always I will do this as rapidly as possible and with as little disruption to you all as possible.

Please try to keep in mind I am only one person and it does involve a lot of work to do this
If you find something has vanished or not working then please have patience before complaining, most main features such as arcade are ready to quickly upgrade but a few will take longer tho I personally feel these one to be of a lower priority and can be worked on once the main site is sorted out.

I will try to keep the site online during this process but if it does go offline please do not panik, it will return post haste.

What is Teamspeak?
It is an online Voice over IP server which allows us members to chat to each other with our mics, for free. It is very handy to have for socialising, also for playing various multiplayer online games.

Shoutbox new features

The sidebar request hook which has been awol for a bit has been integrated into shout.

Alongside this some of the old shout features return such as :

Customize the appearance in the shoutbox of fonts, colours, glows, decoration, avatars.

Unlike before you had to set these each shout the settings will be saved until you decide to change them

IPB 3.2 Upgrade News

After running a test site with the new IPB 3.2 on it I have to announce we will NOT be upgrading to it in the very near future.
The reason for this is simply that they have changed so much of the coding and were site features link into that not 1 of our main modifications will function upon it as they are, this obviously entails a lot of rewriting to all our main modifications such as Arcade,Probattle etc etc and even skins no longer work right and need redone

As most know in the 2 years we have been open I have basically worked non stop to improve our site and this prospect of starting all over again has hit me pretty hard

I hope all members can understand why there will not be an immediate upgrade to the forum software.

I would like to aplologise to all Staff and Members for my recent lack of activity around the site I had some major personal issue's to deal with in real life which had basically put me on a right downer, I felt it best to keep a low profile in the hope my mood did not effect others and perhaps bring their moods down too.
Thankfully most of it has now been resolved and i'm getting back to my old self so expect to see more of me again and some new idea's for this wonderful place bursting forth

You will notice within post editor a new black and yellow IMDB icon, clicking on this will producea box with 2 [imdb] tags all you have to do is check on IMDB site in the browser address for the ID number ( usually something like : ttxxx )

Place that number in
the box and you will get imdb info added in

Flash multi file uploader

Flash multi file uploader is now active but has to be enabled by members themself via profile settings / general settings and then tick the box

then to upload you simply browse to em and use ctrl key and click on the various files.

This should make life much easier in a lot of posts

Donations / Payments

Dear members and staff,

No boubt many will notice that the donations have reduced slighty early this month (around a week) , this is because I am going to hospital on monday morning and I felt it best to ensure everything was paid early just incase I do happen to get kept in.
I doubt this will happen but as a safe gaurd our hosting etc is all paid.
